Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

United Way Kitchener Waterloo and Area and United Way Cambridge and North Dumfries are pleased to offer a select number of 50% tuition sponsorships. These sponsorships are for staff members of eligible organizations in Waterloo Region, who will be attending the program in their professional capacity (i.e., as opposed to for personal interest).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must submit a completed application form and provide a letter of support from their organization.
  • To be considered for the sponsorship, you must have already registered for the certificate program.
  • Priority will be given to organizations currently receiving support from either United Way Kitchener Waterloo and Area and/or United Way Cambridge and North Dumfries.
  • Only one staff member per organization will be selected (unless there are fewer requests than available sponsorships).

Letter of Support

The letter of support should include the following elements:

  • Support for this particular staff member’s participation in the program.
  • Description of how participation in the program will be of benefit to your organization.
  • Description of how your organization engages in evaluation within your organization.

How to Apply

Complete this application form and include your letter of support; your application must be received no later than Aug. 21, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. All applicants will be notified two weeks prior to the start date as to whether they were selected.

As part of the tuition sponsorship program, CCRLA will provide both United Ways with intake and completion summaries for all sponsorship recipients. These summaries will include all information gathered herein, as well as evidence of good standing in the course, completion of program, and recipients’ narrative summaries of their experience with the program, description of knowledge gained, and how they can apply this to their organization and their work (to be done once program is complete).

If you have any questions about this application, please contact the Centre for Community Research, Learning and Action (CCRLA) at 519.884.0710 x3494 or at
