Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Transferring to Laurier

In addition to the milestones above, transfer students have a few other things to add to their checklist:

  • Make an appointment with an academic advisor prior to registering for courses. We recommend all transfer students do this, to help plan your program pathways, to determine the best way to utilize any transfer credits received and to help you navigate program and course requirements.
  • Arrange your accommodations, as residence space is limited for transfer students.
  • Start the transfer credit appeal process if you feel the number of transfer credits granted to you does not appropriately reflect your previous study. You have up to one year following your offer of admission to appeal. Contact for more information.

Computer/Tablet Wireless Requirements

If you are purchasing a new computer or tablet to bring to Laurier, it's important that your new system has either 5Ghz or "dual band" wireless radio technology. Some systems support only the 2.4 GHz band, which is also commonly used by smartphones and other wireless devices. This band can quickly become saturated, resulting in poor performance. A 5 GHz or dual-band system has a better chance of establishing a responsive wireless connection. This feature can be as important a characteristic of your new system as memory or processor speed.

Please be aware that your computer/tablet system will need to connect to a wireless network as there is no general access wired capability in student areas around campus, including residence.
