Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Applying for admission is the first step towards obtaining your graduate degree. Review the application deadlines and admissions requirements below. We encourage you to contact the program’s graduate coordinator with any questions.

Your first step is completing the online application. Each program you apply to requires an application fee.

Application Submission and Assessment

Most programs consider applications until the program is full. Consult the Application Checklist to find out if your desired program has a firm application deadline.

Applications received by the following dates will be assessed first.

Winter* May 15
Spring* Nov. 15**

*Only select programs accept applications for a winter or spring term start.
**Consideration of applications for the MEd program commences January 15. Consideration of applications for the Toronto part-time alternate-weekend MBA program is February 1. 

Before you apply, ensure you meet the admission requirements of your intended program, and that the program will meet your academic and career goals. Entry into our programs is competitive, and possession of the admission requirements does not guarantee entry.

Our general admission requirements are:

Doctoral Student

  • Master’s degree from a recognized university.
  • A- average in all graduate work.

Master’s Student

  • Four-year (honours) bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, from an approved university.
  • Minimum of second-class honours, or B standing, or equivalent.

Not a Canadian Citizen?

For international applicants, we require an official statement of your acceptable English-language test results.

For permanent Canadian residents, evidence of your status in Canada is required; you must provide a photocopy of your signed "Record of Landing" or photocopies of both sides of your permanent resident card.

Application information is collected under the authority of the Wilfrid Laurier University Act to administer the university-student relationship. This includes but is not limited to maintaining your academic and ancillary records, contacting you, and others, on your behalf, and releasing such information as is appropriate for the operation of the university.
