Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Colin Robertson, Robert McLeman and Haydn Lawrence

Colin Robertson and Robert McLeman, both associate professors in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, along with alumnus Haydn Lawrence, are co-researchers. They work in the area of citizen science – to conduct fine-resolution mapping of winter temperatures and track year-to-year progress of larger winter climate trends using public reports of outdoor ice rink conditions.

“The sport of hockey has tremendous potential to be a catalyst for important social and environmental sustainability,” said Robert McLeman. “The NHL and NHLPA are acting on that potential, and my colleagues at Laurier and I are excited to help any way we can.”
