Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

The Delton Glebe Counselling Centre is a not-for-profit, multifaith counselling agency committed to strengthening emotional and spiritual well-being. The centre is rooted in the belief that faith and spirituality are important resources for healing and change. It embraces diversity and cultural inclusivity, and offers counselling to people throughout Waterloo Region.

The centre offers individual, couples’, family, child and group counselling. It offers art therapy, play therapy and pet-assisted therapy. Therapists are also trained in traditional counselling approaches, and are either certified practitioners or graduate students who are supervised.

The centre’s unique approach ensures that, if issues of faith and spirituality are important to a client, therapists are trained to listen and explore those issues. The therapist’s aim is to understand a client's worldview and never to impose one on the client.

The centre is named after Rev. Dr. Delton J. Glebe (1919-2011), a longtime pastor, professor and seminary principal-dean who was a pioneer in the research and teaching of grief, death and dying. Opened in October 2013, the centre aims to extend his leadership and legacy. The centre is a community service provided through Waterloo Lutheran Seminary. Established in 1911, the seminary is home to one of the largest master’s-level graduate programs in the field of Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy.
