Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Micheál J. Kelly, dean of the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University, was named national spokesperson for the CATA Innovation Leadership Council (ILC) on Dec. 15.

Kelly will serve alongside CATA ILC national spokesperson Josh Blair, who is the executive vice-president of TELUS Health and TELUS International, as well as president of TELUS Business Solutions West.

The ILC oversees the mandate of the CATAAlliance, a Canadian association dedicated to championing innovation, encouraging collaboration and increasing the competitiveness of Canadian high tech companies.

In CATA’s news release announcing Kelly’s appointment, Kelly said, “For Canada to prosper we must become a leading competitive innovation nation; we all need to do our part to get there… To grow and compete internationally we must ensure that Canadian technology companies have the management talent and knowledge to compete in global markets.”

Part of the Lazaridis School, the Lazaridis Institute for the Management of Technology Enterprises was recently formed to help support the development of these management skills in technology executives and prepare the next generation of business students to lead the industry in the future.
