Nashifa has over 10 years of work experience in Human Resource Management, focusing on recruitment and selection, performance management, training and development, and organizational development. Her experience encompasses both the private and the public sector organizations, and has taught at the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics for the past 23 years. Her management and consulting experience includes both a strategic focus: reviewing and recommending changes to organizational systems, and a tactical focus: implementing change. Her strengths lie in assessing training and development needs, developing training materials, facilitating management and staff training programs; downsizing and staff re-organization; review of performance management systems; selection and recruitment activities; and developing and delivering a variety of management training programs on communication and interpersonal skills, conflict management, problem-solving, customer service and other management and human resource functions.
In addition, Nashifa served as Laurier's Harassment/Discrimination Coordinator for seven years, reporting to the president of the university. Nashifa has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in organizational behaviour, organizational theory, human resource management, training and development, communication skills for managers, leadership, and interpersonal communication skills. Nashifa holds an undergraduate Honours degree and a Masters’ degree from the University of Toronto, combined with a variety of external training programs.
