I am a part-time instructor and PhD candidate in the Faculty of Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University. Within the Waterloo Region community, I work as a counsellor and reintegration social worker. I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Studies at the University of Waterloo in 2011 and a Master of Social Work degree at Laurier in 2015.
My body of work aims to develop and build justice interventions that can respond to complex social systems and combat experiences of marginalization. I've spent over a decade allying with marginalized and equity-seeking groups to do applied research and community development work. We've partnered with a wide range of organizations from grassroots NGOs to the Canadian federal government to secure funding and sustain this work. It is critically important to construct interventions that value marginalized groups.
My doctoral study explores how community-based social enterprise programs impact the employment experiences of reintegating women. The goal of the study is to advance dialogues regarding the creation and implementation of a social enterprise program that can yield equitable employment and educational opportunities for reintegrating women in Ontario.
