Indigenous Centred Wholistic Development

Situated within the Master of Social Work (MSW) Indigenous Field of Study program at Wilfrid Laurier University. Our centre opened in June 2017 with the launch of our Indigenous Peoples Certificate in Indigegogy (formerly the Indigenous Educators Certificate in Indigegogy) and our Decolonizing Education Certificate. Now in our third year, the Centre is offering the following: Indigenous Research Workshop Series, Understanding Decolonization Four Day Intensive and Wholistic Professional Development Workshops. We are offering numerous trainings in Indigenous centred wholistic development to assist practitioners, teachers, learners and helpers strengthen their good medicine, teaching and learning bundles.

What is Indigegogy?

Indigegogy is a term coined by Stan Wilson, a Cree Elder and Educator. Indigegogy uses Indigenous knowledge, literature and scholarship and is centred on land-based education. Indigegogy engages Indigenous methodology such as circle work and lifts up traditional teachings, ceremonies and practices. Indigegogy is a decolonizing practice that builds on the resurgence of Indigenous ways of knowing, teaching and learning.
