Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

I am a biogeochemist working on algal blooms
Our group makes small packages
I joined the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies in July 2014. My research is currently focused on the biogeochemical cycling of nutrients and related elements, and human and climate related disruptions of these cycles. For many years, I have conducted whole-ecosystem research at the world-renowned Experimental Lakes Area studying reservoir creation, ecosystem metabolism and eutrophication. To study the fate of biogeochemical elements, i often integrate stable isotope measurements with process based ecological models.
