Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

I hold an Honours Bachelor of Music (BMus) in Performance from Laurier.
I have been teaching cello at the Beckett School at Laurier since 1990. This extensive experience has given me the opportunity to work with hundreds of cellists. From them, and from my own studies, I have developed many different approaches to the same issues, so that I can tailor my teaching to the unique abilities and challenges of each student.
I continue to perform in a wide range of solo, chamber and orchestral situations and I draw from these experiences to enrich my teaching.
In my forties I felt I was growing stale as a player and teacher. I decided to take some lessons with COC principal Bryan Epperson in Toronto. I can't thank him enough for the instruction and inspiration.
My goal is to inspire and instruct my students to become true musicians. Not automatons pushed out to a template, but artists who express themselves through the medium of the cello. I work constantly to improve the variety and excellence of what I can offer them. Teaching is my passion.
