Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

I’ve been teaching music lessons for nearly a decade. I’ve developed songwriting and recording group programming in Kitchener and Toronto. My objective is to deliver practical songwriting and recording workshops to the Waterloo Region community with the Beckett School at Laurier.
Currently I’m pursuing a Masters in Music with a concentration on sound engineering in Popular music. I’m undergoing a 10-month creative collaboration with a top Engineer in the music industry. I also have the pleasure of being an Assistant Teacher for the Music Improvisation course at Wilfrid Laurier University, where I co-facilitate listening, discussion and performance exercises.
I hold post-graduate certificates in Music Business, Small Business Management, and Startup Business. I also received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo: Double Honours in Music and Business with minors in Communications and French. My major instrument was Classical Guitar, second was Voice. During this time, I did a program with Velocity as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence for Music Technology.
I’ve been in the practice of songwriting since 2008 and recording/production since 2010. I’ve formally studied both in university and before this, was self-taught. I was professionally trained in competitive placements at Artscape Daniel’s Launchpad, where I worked hands-on with Audio Engineers in a multi-disciplinary, multi-million dollar music studio.
I’ve studied Voice since 2011 (Classical, Pop and Jazz), primarily with award-winning instructors Charlene Russell and Micah Barnes.
I have coached students through writing, performing and recording their own original music. I’ve had the honor of preparing students for university music programs, live performances, studio recording sessions, and auditions. I’ve played and written in a variety of Popular music styles.
My approach is to challenge students to be their best and be themselves. I bring positivity and humor into my studio while encouraging students to think creatively and find their voice.
My goal with lessons is to help students build their sound and confidence through creative exploration and expression. Apart from forming a solid technical foundation, emphasis is placed on developing musicianship skills; with musicality, students can bring their music to life in their own way and feel ownership of what they create or perform.
I have a holistic, long-term approach to working with my students on their goals. I create custom lessons for each student based on their level, interests and experience. I help students with warmups, performance skills, ear training, demo recording, lyric-writing, song creation, vocal health and more. I look forward to meeting you!
