Being a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

The Faculty of Education offers Additional Qualification courses to certified teachers who wish to broaden their knowledge, develop specialized skills to assist them in their careers and network with other teachers. Our dedicated instructors bring a wealth of experience to their classes and ensure that materials and assignments are practical and interesting.

All courses are a combination of face-to-face and online formats but distribution varies from course to course to suit learning styles and schedules. Face-to-face hours provide immediate feedback and answers to questions in a personalized learning environment. Online components allow participants to structure their learning around individual commitments and in a convenient location.

Laurier BEd graduates and associate teachers receive fee discounts which they can often combine with subsidies from their employee and professional associations.

Payments and Discounts

Payment information must be included on the registration form at the time of registration. Payments are processed after registration closes.

Registration forms can be withdrawn without financial penalty up to and including the first day of course. Further refund information is outlined in the student handbook, which is emailed to registrants prior to the start of the course. Please allow 10 days for a refund to be processed.

A tuition receipt is emailed to registrants shortly after the last day of a course. It outlines the name of the course that was successfully completed, the dates of the course and the amount paid. This should be sufficient to submit to an employer or professional association for a subsidy rebate.

T2202A Income tax forms are mailed to the address that we have on file in February each year.

Duplicates of these documents can be requested at

  • Early bird: $30 (see individual course information for deadlines).
  • Faculty of Education BEd graduates: $50.
  • Associate teachers (any year): $50.

Note: discounts may be combined.

Subsidies by employers/professional associations: please contact these groups directly regarding the application process for subsidies. The Faculty of Education issues a receipt at the end of the course which can be used for these applications.
