Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

I received my BA (Sociology and Global Studies) and my Master of Education from Wilfrid Laurier University. I served in the Division of Student Affairs at Wilfrid Laurier University from 2003-2020 supporting the complex needs of undergraduate students living in residence and commuting to campus. I led the development of the Residence Education unit at Laurier which coordinates an integrated curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular student experience. I foster a culture of collaboration and championed the co-creation of innovative programs that facilitate service delivery with campus partners. I provided leadership on numerous campus committees and sought out opportunities for academic and student affairs to learn and grow together.
I now serve as the Innovation Officer for the Municipal Innovation Council (MIC) in Bruce County, Ontario. My leadership experience and competencies in organizational development and capacity building align with the MIC’s mandate to identify shared solutions to shared problems in communities throughout Bruce County.
The opportunity to share knowledge and skills as well as learn from professionals working in education and development energizes me most. The immersive learning experiences provided to undergraduate and graduate education students will strengthen our collective capacity and equip us to meet the needs of the people we serve.
