Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

I completed my PhD at the University of Alberta and joined the Department of Philosophy at Laurier in 1985.
My areas of research lie at the intersection of the philosophy of language and the philosophy of mind. The main foci of my research are self-knowledge and the history of 20th-century philosophy (especially analytic philosophy, Pragmatism, and Wittgenstein). My work on self-knowledge attempts to develop a non-epistemic and deflationary account of the privileged access we each have to the contents of our own minds.
