I received my PhD in experimental psychology from McMaster University in 2018, and subsequently completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Rotman Research Institute at Baycrest. In 2020, I returned to McMaster University as an assistant professor (teaching) for four years, after which I joined the Department of Psychology at Laurier to lead the teaching at the new Milton campus.
I am interested in understanding the interaction between perceptual and cognitive processes, asking questions such as how perceptual learning and memory are related, or how attention affects what our perceptual systems learn from the environment. I primarily use behavioural techniques, but also use EEG and eye-tracking as needed.
I am also interested in understanding how students learn in the modern classroom, and investigate the role of students' motivations, use of technology and genAI, and peer-to-peer interactions in memory and academic outcomes.
Check out the lab website for recent and ongoing projects.
Undergraduate students interested in studying various aspects of perception, cognition, and/or pedagogy should reach out with their area(s) of interest. My office and equipment are in the Milton campus, but I regularly supervise Waterloo students as well.
