Scotiabank gift announcement for UXD program

As president of Laurier, one of my greatest joys is the opportunity to shine a spotlight on our outstanding academic programs and tonight, I have the pleasure of joining you to celebrate Laurier’s User Experience Design program and the tremendous investment it is receiving from our friends at Scotiabank.

Enriching partnerships, like the one we enjoy with Scotiabank, represent so much more than a straightforward funding agreement. They are critical to Laurier’s success in creating a thriving community and culture of engagement that develops the whole person and reaffirms our place as a centre of academic and research excellence.

As a comprehensive university, we have identified experiential learning as the best way to equip our students with the skills and knowledge needed, not only to build meaningful careers, but meaningful lives of leadership and purpose as well.

This is what we mean when we say ‘developing the whole person.’

And this is why I’m thrilled to announce that Scotiabank is generously investing $852,000 over the next four years in our UXD program.

Thank you Scotiabank, your generosity will make a powerful and positive impact on the lives of our current and future students who wish to pursue that meaning in the ground-breaking industry of user experience design.

I am so excited about the possibilities that lie ahead for our students and I’m especially grateful to be able to recognize and thank some of our partners who have joined us this evening.

Noelle and Pamela – the confidence you have shown in our program and institution is phenomenal.

The partnership between Laurier and Scotiabank has enabled us to do so much over the years. Projects like this one have such a positive and direct impact on our communities, our region, our province and our country that I cannot wait to see the outcomes of this initiative.
