Print | PDFI am pleased to present to our community a draft version of Wilfrid Laurier University’s Strategic Plan 2019-2024 and I invite all staff, faculty and students to share feedback on the draft through an online call for comments. The call for comments will remain open until Wednesday, April 17 at 4:30 p.m.
Since October, the steering committee has been meeting and working on drafting a plan that will develop strategies to guide the university over the next five years. Over this time, we have reviewed literature, historical documents, learned from expert guest speakers, reviewed Laurier and comparator data, and received input from over 2,000 members of the Laurier community through consultations held throughout January.
The draft strategic plan captures our community’s aspirations and vision for Laurier as we head into the next decade. The strategic themes of “thriving culture,” “future-readiness,” and “community impact” highlight the areas where Laurier needs to leverage its strengths to outpace the challenges we will face in a changing world. The final plan will provide a foundation from which the university’s unit-level priorities will cascade. As we implement the plan, a series of key metrics that enable us to monitor our university’s overall performance and progress on individual strategies will be developed in the coming year.
Throughout the month of April, students, staff, faculty, alumni and community members will have various opportunities to share feedback on the draft Strategic Plan 2019-2024, beginning with the online call for comments. Additionally, there will be facilitated discussions and presentations to different units throughout the university. More information about these opportunities can be found on the strategic planning page. I encourage all of our community members to take some time to participate in these consultations. Your feedback is invaluable as we move forward with drafting a final plan.
We anticipate a final draft of the plan will be presented for approval to the University Senate on May 22 and to the Board of Governors on June 6.
I would like to thank everyone who has participated in this process so far. Together, through strategic planning, we continue to build a strong and resilient university.
