I am thrilled that Sustainable Waterloo Region is recognizing Laurier's 10-year-plus partnership in building a more sustainable community in Waterloo. It is an honour to work with such an inspiring organization. I'm sorry I could not attend the evening of recognition on April 12, however, I recorded this special thank you message for SWR.

The Outstanding Women of Laurier event on March 29 celebrated Laurier’s women in sport and raised money for Laurier’s women’s athletic programs, scholarships and mentor coaching.

Dear Laurier community: Later today, Faith Goldy is scheduled to speak at the Waterloo campus. A recently formed group invited Goldy to the campus and a faculty member booked the event space, following normal booking procedure.

Current students, staff, faculty, alumni and local neighbours celebrated Laurier’s community focus through a variety of events for Laurier Cares week.

At the beginning of February, I attended the Universities Canada Univation forum in Ottawa with two of Laurier’s Master of Education students: Sharline Doss and Adam Rooke. The conference brought together leaders at universities and in business with students and entrepreneurs to examine how universities can best prepare students for the future.

Deborah MacLatchy was formally installed as the new president and vice-chancellor of Wilfrid Laurier University on Oct. 27, 2017. She is the seventh person and the second woman to serve in the role since Laurier became a public institution in 1973.
