Instructor Biographies and Rates
Note: Music books are not included in the instructor rates.
Families may choose to pay for the entire year upfront (if you are joining mid-year, you still have the option to pay for the remainder of the year), or on a monthly basis. Invoices will be sent by e-mail between the 1st and 5th of each month starting August 1. For example, Sept. lessons will be billed Aug. 1, Oct. lessons will be billed Sept. 1. Payments are due 14 days following the invoice.
We encourage you to opt-in to automatic payments.
If you have two missed invoices, lessons will discontinue immediately until payment is made. No makeup lessons will be provided for missed lessons due to unpaid invoices.
NOTE: If you choose to pay monthly, invoice amounts will reflect the total cost of lessons for the year, divided by ten equal payments. For example, $35 per lesson at 36 lessons for the year = $1260. The monthly invoice amount would be $126. This will be adjusted for students joining mid-year.
Lessons may be offered in the summer, dependent on teacher availability. Payment for summer lessons are to be made in June.
Physical payments such as cheque are possible, but not encouraged. There will be a $35 charge for non-sufficient funds or returned cheques. No refunds are available once the payment for the month has been made.
Please contact the school directly with any questions.
Four lessons of notice must be given to discontinue lessons. You will be billed up to and including the 4-lesson notice period. For example, if you have taken 20 lessons in the academic year and then discontinue, you will be billed for 24 lessons total. If you pay upfront for the year, a refund can be provided.
There are no refunds for group classes once payment has been made.
Trial lessons can be booked with available teachers. All trial lesson rates are the same as the teacher rates.
In conformance with the guidelines of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association, there will be no adjustment for missed lessons at any time. Lessons missed by the teacher will be rescheduled at a mutually convenient time.
"A child is excused from attendance at school if he/she is absent from school for the purpose of receiving instruction in music and the period of absence does not exceed one-half day in any week."
– The School Administration Act, Section 6, Subsection 2
Students studying with the Royal Conservatory of Music or Conservatory Canada may be eligible to earn credits toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Ask your instructor for details.
The Laurier Academy of Music and Arts will be closed in the event of severe weather when normal operation would pose a significant danger to faculty, staff and students. Wilfrid Laurier University which includes the Laurier Academy of Music and Arts may close for the morning, afternoon, evening or for the entire day. In each case the closure announcement and reopening time will be communicated to you by your teacher. Lessons missed due to school closure will be rescheduled at a mutually convenient time, or they may be held virtually.
