Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

You’re here to learn, and we’re here to help you succeed. Having trouble writing an essay? Taking notes? Choosing classes? Don’t be shy. Ask for help – we’re happy to give it!

Academic Advising and Support

Our Academic Advising and Support system can help you plan your academic requirements, supplement instruction for traditionally hard courses (we’re looking at you, economics), and help improve your writing and study skills.

Most of these services are delivered in small groups and individual consultation settings, and are designed to encourage the sharing of ideas and peer learning.

Undergraduate program advisors, whom you can contact through your program, can help you with course selection, transfer information, graduate options and more. Faculty academic advisors offer general academic advising and support students in general BA/BSc degrees without designation, petitions and clearing probation.

Accessible Learning Centre

Our Accessible Learning Centre helps students with documented disabilities reach their full academic potential. The centre provides tutoring assistance, learning strategy and assistive technology support, exam accommodation and alternate-format course materials.

Registration Matters

Our Service Laurier offices on both our Waterloo and Brantford campuses are your one-stop shop for all enrolment services, including course registration, financial aid, and scholarships and bursaries.

Incoming Student Support

You can begin creating the foundation for a successful first year as soon as you accept your offer to attend Laurier. As an incoming student, you have access to programs and services that will help prepare you for your studies and navigate your new learning environment.

Laurier 101, our comprehensive incoming student support program, is designed to provide you with support during the summer months and help answer any questions you have along the way.

Your student fees cover all of the activities included in Laurier 101, so plan ahead to participate so you don’t miss out. Registration webinars, Headstart and Orientation Week all require pre-registration to participate.

Career Services

You’re coming to Laurier to create the foundation for your future; that’s why we’ve made career development an integral part of the student experience. The Career Centre provides programs and services to help you learn about who you are and what you want to achieve, and can help you develop strategies to get there.

The Career Centre can teach you how to enhance your skills and how to communicate what sets you apart to your future employers. They can also help you discover what you can do with your degree, help you find a job, and help you apply to further education.

Part-Time and Continuing Education

Our Part-Time Studies and Continuing Education offices can give you all the info you need about completing a degree part-time, or taking non-credit courses and certificates.

Online Learning

Laurier offers hundreds of courses online, so whether you want to brush up on your skills, take some special interest courses, or take some online courses as part of your degree, you can find out how through our Online Learning office.
