Objectives of the Centre

  • To foster the development of an internationally-recognized research centre that integrates motor control, rehabilitation and exercise science for the investigation and treatment of movement disorders:
    • by establishing a multi-disciplinary team to investigate the neural basis for exercise rehabilitation focusing on improving movement control and functional outcome;
    • by creating a state-of-the-art movement and exercise research facility
  • To discover and investigate underlying neural mechanisms that cause movement deficits;
  • To develop and validate novel diagnostic tools for an integrated evaluation of motor disorder symptoms, overall motor control and functional status for individuals with movement disorders;
  • To become Canada’s lead authority on diagnostic tools and recommendations for exercise rehabilitation for all movement disordered populations;
  • To attract international researchers and provide training excellence in research-based exercise design;
  • To organize conferences and workshops and an annual meeting to promote the activities of the Centre.
