Midterm Examination Polices

In all cases of illness, the student MUST provide the Centre for Online Learning with a completed Verification of Illness Form in order for a deferred exam to be granted.

A $25 Deferred Midterm Fee will apply to all deferred midterms except those deferred because of conflict with another Laurier event.

Note: Not all Online Learning courses have a proctored midterm exam.

Check the midterm schedule below for the date, time and location of your midterm exam. If you have questions or concerns about your midterm, please contact:

Scott Murie

9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

If there is a problem with your centre, please email Online Learning. Online Learning students writing midterm examinations are responsible for arriving at the scheduled time and location. Refer to the midterm schedule in the Online Learning Guide. Laurier student identification cards are required. Forgetting, arriving late, or arriving at the wrong location or wrong time are not considered acceptable reasons to be granted a deferred midterm exam.

Online Learning students will be permitted to write the midterm exam up to one-half hour after the exam has started. They will, however, not be granted any extra time.

All students must hand in all completed and attempted work, rough notes made during the exam, and the exam paper with their name and I.D# on it before leaving the examination room. Students must also NOT leave the examination room before signing the attendance sheet. Unused examination booklets may not be taken from the examination room.

Briefcases, backpacks or other bags, calculators and any other study material must be put at the front of the examination room unless otherwise specified on the examination paper.

The proctor is not permitted to answer questions other than those concerning the examination paper.

Please note that Wilfrid Laurier University reserves the right to cancel the a centre as a location for midterms on a scheduled date if there are less than three midterms booked.

Under no circumstances will the office discuss midterm concerns with anyone other than the registered student.
