My Laurier Brantford Experience

Hey everyone! My name is Steph (Stephanie, but Steph), and I am going into my third year at Laurier Brantford in the Honours Criminology Program.

Welcome to Laurier Brantford! I am so privileged to say that I am a student here, because of the great classes, awesome campus, and amazing friends I have made here! If you like the feeling of a small, close-knit community, as well as the convenience of living in the city, than this is the campus for you. Because of our small class sizes, as well as our apartment-style residences, you really get to know your peers and professors on a personal level. I especially liked this aspect of the campus, because I am from Embro, which is a small farming town in Southwestern Ontario, close to London and Woodstock. I admit that I was very nervous moving to a city, but suffice to say, I was very comfortable when I arrived at Laurier. I wasn't as overwhelmed as I thought I was going to be, and the community aspect of the campus really helped me with this.

Throughout my time here, I have been involved with many different clubs and committees on campus. In my first year, I was my residence's community representative for Brantford Residence Council, a committee dedicated exclusively to putting on events for residence students. I met some fellow ambassadors during this time, and we have been friends since then. I also have volunteered for the W.L.U. Student's Union since my first year, and have been a part of the Healthy Lifestyles Committee, as well as a Foor Patrol General Volunteer and an Orientation Week Icebreaker. If I have any advice to give you about the transition to university, it would be to get involved! This campus has something for everyone, and if it doesn't, grab a few friends and create a club! Your university experience is what you put into it. You get a chance to start fresh, so why not make it awesome?!

If you see me around campus, feel free to say hi, and I'll try and answer any questions you may have.

Hoping to see everyone soon! :)
