Athletics and Recreation
Laurier's Athletics and Recreation Department offers students dozens of ways to have fun, stay fit, compete intramurally, learn new skills or go for gold in national competition.
Varsity Sports: Laurier has approximately 500 varsity athletes on 23 varsity teams, including Baseball, Basketball, Curling, Football, Soccer, Hockey, Lacrosse, Rugby, Swimming, Figure Skating and more. For information on varsity sports, click here.
Intramurals: Every year over 8,000 students partake in 18 intramural sports that include dodgeball, ultimate frisbee, soccer, basketball and ice hockey (to name a few).
Facilities: Students take full advantage of our Olympic-length indoor pool (Ontario's only national swimming centre), air-conditioned squash courts, a fully equipped fitness centre and services, a 30-foot indoor climbing wall and more.
Not looking to become a varsity athlete? You can still join the fiercely spirited Golden Hawk fans who come out to support our varsity teams in football, curling, soccer, basketball and more!
Aramark Athletic Scholarship: This scholarship is available to full time CIS/OUA eligible students who are members of interuniversity athletic teams at Laurier. The recipients must be either first year or continuing full time student. First year recipients must have a minimum final average of 80 per cent on those courses used to determine university admission. Value of scholarship is to the Coach's discretion.
