4th year, Honours Economics
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Hello everybody! My name is Rishi Lakhani. I’m an international student at Wilfrid Laurier University from Dubai, UAE. I’m studying Economics and will be entering my 4th year this September. The last three years at Laurier have been splendid!
Before leaving home to study abroad, I was as nervous as all of you might be, but both WLU and Canada embraced me in no time. The people here are very welcoming and friendly. The small size of the university makes it a very safe community and you’re bound to bump into a friend while walking through campus. Over these three years, I have made friends from all over the world and I am very thankful to my parents for this opportunity!
I lived in residence for my first year and it was a great experience. In my second year, I lived off-campus with four of my close friends. For my 3rd and 4th year,
I will be returning to residence as a residence life don. I’m very excited for this experience! Laurier offers various opportunities for students in terms of campus clubs, volunteer work and even paid employment! I love beatboxing and I joined Laurier’s acapella music group called ‘Hawkapella’ during my first year.
At Laurier, I’m sure that you’ll find enough opportunities to cultivate and express your talents and interests. Laurier students have a fantastic school spirit and we’re very proud of our university! If you have any questions, I’ll be more than happy to answer them. I wish you the very best in choosing your school and I hope to see you at Wilfrid Laurier University.
