Ministry Announces Extended B.Ed. Program
The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) announced plans to lengthen the current eight-month, 2 term B.Ed. program to either 3 or 4 terms. Consultations are presently underway with MTCU, the Ministry of Education, the Faculties of Education and a number of other stakeholders to discuss the core content to be required within the program, the actual length and model of the program, the design of the practicum and other pertinent issues (including funding). The lengthened program is scheduled to begin in September, 2014. Dean Willard-Holt is attending the consultations as a representative of the Ontario Association of Deans of Education. The Laurier Faculty of Education will begin planning specific to our program as soon as the number of terms and design of the practicum are determined by the Ministry. Alumni will be invited to comment on the tentative plans as the process unfolds.
