Professional Development Supplementary Assistance Program

Endowment generously supported by WLU Graduate Studentsí Association

This endowment provides secondary assistance for academic conference attendance or participation in professional development opportunities, such as workshops on presentation skills, grant-writing, career skills, and second language study.

Eligible activities focus on enhancing the knowledge base of the participant, their skill sets, or improve their career portfolios and options. The fund is intended to enhance other funds already received by the student for the same purpose, e.g., from their graduate supervisor, academic department, or the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (FGPS); the fund is not intended and is not able to be used as the primary source of funding for these activities.

6 awards valued at $500 will be disbursed to eligible candidates.

Eligibility:

1. Full- or part-time graduate students who are registered and in good academic standing at Laurier.

2. Students must have received funding from either FGPS or their department.

3. Professional development/conference must occur between May 1, 2012 and April 30, 2013.

Priority will be given to students who have not received professional/conference funding from WLUGSA before and to students with the highest out-of-pocket expenses, after funding from other sources has been deducted.

Note: Please still complete this application even if you did not receive funding from FGPS or your department for your professional development. Your application will be considered for support through the general Graduate Enhancement Fee.

Applicants will be notified in May. Successful applicants will be required to provide electronic copies of registration, participation, payment and receipts for all claimed expenses prior to the release of funds.

Applications for PDSAP support have now closed.
