Youth Leaders on Board
Inspiring Lives of Leadership and Purpose.
What is it?
The "Youth Leaders on Board" initiative offered through the Brantford campus of Wilfrid Laurier University is designed to match undergraduate students with non-profit boards in Brantford, Brant and surrounding communities looking to bring a youth perspective to their boards. Designed to enhance the leadership and governance knowledge, skills and experiences of students and give them a foundation for a lifelong interest in board development.
Students will participate in a one-day training workshop on the roles and responsibilities of board members, followed by a one-year placement as a student member on a Board of Directors.
The inaugural Youth Leaders on Board program ran during the 2011-2012 academic year. Learn more about this leadership opportunity from the students and organizations that participated.
When does it run?
The Youth Leaders on Board program will run in the 2013-2014 academic year.
Thank you for your interest in Youth Leaders on Board. The application window for the current academic year has closed and we are pleased to have 13 Laurier Brantford students serving as youth board members for local organizations. Please check the website in May 2014 for information on next year's program.
The Youth Leaders on Board initiative gratefully acknowledges funding support from The Stephen Smith & Dorothy Woltz Foundation.
