The Adele Slater Award for Writing on World Peace

The purpose of this competition is to encourage and recognize serious and skillfully written student contributions to research and reflection on world peace and its promotion.

There are two $500 awards: one for a critical essay, and one for a shorter piece of prose, poetry or fictional narrative.

The deadline for submission of application form (see link below) and FOUR COPIES of each piece submitted IN HARDCOPY PLEASEisBY NOON onFriday, March 6, 2015.

All entries must be submitted to the Global Studies Office, Dr. Alvin Woods Building (DAWB), Room 5-120. If the office is closed when you submit, please place your submission by this deadline in the mailbox for Adele Slater Awards Apps (directly across from the office door on the very last mailbox column to the right). Please follow the link on the main WLU Awards site which will also include the submission form to be filled out. PLEASE NOTE: THE FOUR COPIES OF THE PIECE SUBMITTED SHOULD NOT HAVE YOUR NAME ON IT. THIS CONTEST ISDECIDED BY BLIND JURY - the members of the committee will not see the student names or IDs sodo not putyour name or ID on the piece submitted - make sure you fill out the form properly so we know whom to contact should your piece be chosen for the award.

This competition is open to all WLU students, undergraduate and graduate.

The jury will look for original, independent and well written unpublished work.
All submissions must be accompanied by an official entry form found below under Related Information.
