Information for Graduates
The Spring Convocation Ceremonies will take place the week of June 9th - 13th 2014, On the Waterloo Campus at the Athletic Complex
Participation cards will NOT be mailed . An email will be sent to those that have been cleared to graduate approximately two weeks before the ceremony to confirm the degree, program granted and the date and time of the ceremony. Please arrive approximately 1.5 hours before the ceremony to pick up your participation card along with your gown in Bricker Academic. It is vital that you do not misplace this card once you have it in hand as it indicates your place in line and your full legal name that will be announced during the ceremony.
**IMPORTANT** Participation cards will NOT be available for those who have a hold on their account or who have not been cleared to graduate. Please confirm on LORIS.
Cleared to Graduate:
To check if you have been cleared to graduate please follow these instructions: (The status of your application will not change until your final grades have been received and assessed)
- Log into Loris
- Click on 'Student Records'
- Check either 'Official Grades' or 'Unofficial Record of Course Work'
- If it states 'Granted' then you have been cleared to graduate, however if it states 'Applied' then your application is still being processe. Please keep checking LORIS
Candidates who have been cleared to graduate by the second week of May will appear on the final draft of the Convocation program which will be posted on the Convocation homepage approximately one week prior to the event. Please keep checking Loris.

**IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING GUEST SEATING**
Due to high numbers of graduating students, the following ceremonies will require tickets for guest seating;
- June 10, 2014, 9:30 a.m. - Faculty of Science, Biology & Psychology
- June 10, 2014, 2:00 p.m. - Faculty of Science
- June 13, 2014, 9:30 a.m. - School of Business & Economics, BBA
Graduating students attending the June 10th, 9:30 a.m. or June 13th, 9:30 a.m. ceremonies will automatically be granted THREE tickets, with an opportunity to request an additional TWO tickets.
Graduating students attending the June 10th, 2:00 p.m. ceremony will automatically be granted FOUR tickets, with an opportunity to request an additional TWO tickets.
The additional tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The number of additional tickets can vary from the opening date until the graduation ceremony. Unused tickets will be managed electronically through the ticketing website. For example, when a student requests two tickets, the unused third ticket is automatically added to the pool of available additional tickets.
The procedure for obtaining the tickets will be as follows:
- On May 16th, an email will be sent to the graduating students' Laurier email accounts indicating that tickets are available, with a link to the ticketing website
- Students will log in using their Laurier ID, select the number of tickets they require and be given the opportunity to request additional tickets
- Tickets will be sent to the students via email and will be required in printed form or viewable on a smart phone the day of the ceremony for guests to enter the Athletic Complex
Please note, tickets are for attending guests only, graduates DO NOT require a guest ticket. Also, there will be a live streaming of the graduation ceremony. Guests without tickets may watch online from home or in the overflow room on campus.

Undergraduate and Masters degree Candidates do not require pre-booking of graduation gowns and hoods. A $25 rental fee is required at the time of gown pick up which will be in Bricker Academic. Please arrive approximately an hour before your ceremony to ensure enough time for gown rental procedures. PhD and DMin Candidates must reserve their Academic Regalia with the bookstore six weeks prior to graduation. Rental fee is $115. Parking will be available free of charge for visitors during convocation.
Accessibility and Special Needs Seating:
If you require accessible seating for your guests, or have other accessibility requirements, please indicate your requests on the online form which will be posted shortly.
If you are a graduating student and have accessibility needs (eg. require a mobility lift, have the support of a service dog, FM system, Braille or alternate format parchment/degree, sign language interpretation, attendant support for stage or seating navigation, etc.) for the Convocation ceremony please click here for the online Accessibility Needs form. Each graduand is required to wear a black gown for the ceremony. However, graduands receiving a degree must not wear the hood until the Registrar places it around the graduand's neck on stage. It is at this point the graduand becomes a graduate.
Arrival Time for the day of the ceremony:
Plan to arrive at least 1.5 hours in advance of the ceremony to rent gowns, pick up photo composites/ yearbooks and get in line for the procession.
Class Composites & Yearbooks:
Graduates who have had their photograph taken by Lifetouch Photographers and paid the sitting fee, can pick up their class composite and yearbook at the gown and hood rental location in Bricker Academic. **Graduates who visit the Student Publications table at Convocation you will receive a complimentary class composite and yearbook!
Photographer at Convocation Ceremony:
A photographer from Grad Images will be taking on-stage photos of all graduates. Proofs will be sent to the graduates home address. Visit www.gradimages.com or call 1-800-424-3686 to order pictures. At the ceremony there will be a designated area for family and friends to take photographs.

Memorabilia and Gifts:
Giftware, grad rings and Laurier clothing can be purchased through the Bookstore. Rings, flowers and other memorabilia will also be available for sale at convocation.
Faculty Receptions following each Convocation Ceremony:
Receptions will be held for each ceremony. Graduates, family and friends are all encouraged to attend. All receptions will be immediately following the ceremony unless otherwise noted. Locations of the receptions will be posted closer to the Convocation ceremony date.
Convocation Non-Attendance Form:
Please complete and submit the non-attendance form if you are unable to attend the Waterloo Spring Convocation ceremonies. Only those students who have applied to graduate and have been cleared for the ceremony, may use this form. Please click here to complete the non-attendance form.
