WATERLOO – High school students in British Columbia are invited to participate in a Wilfrid Laurier University business competition at St. George's School in Vancouver on Saturday, April 28. Laurier faculty and students will join the participants as they develop and present a business plan to expand and increase sales for Ontario landscape company Green Meadows Lawn Services.
In teams of four or five, participants will be asked to analyze the industry and company outlook and develop a plan to help the company move forward. With the support of Laurier faculty and senior students, they will put together a 10-minute presentation outlining their proposal. A panel of judges will select the proposal that best meets the goals of the company and is most realistic to implement.
“Attending a case competition will give students a really good sense of what business school is like, and valuable experience that will set them apart from other students in terms of analytical, team and presentation skills,” said Laura Allan, assistant professor of policy. “It is definitely an opportunity they won’t want to miss!”
The winning students will be presented with a plaque and prize during an awards reception held at the end of the day. Prizes will also be awarded to teams who demonstrate a high level of teamwork, spirit or knowledge.
Laurier recruits students from across Canada. To see the agenda and to sign up for this one-day competition, please visit www.wlu.ca/LBCC. St. George's School is located at 4175 West 29th Avenue, Vancouver.
