Laurier mourns the passing of Professor Emeritus Robert Fisher

The Wilfrid Laurier University community mourns the passing of Professor Emeritus Robert Fisher, who passed away Aug. 2 in his 83rd year.
Born and educated in the United States, Fisher taught at Northwestern University in Illinois before immigrating to Canada in 1967 to teach in the Religion and Culture Department at Laurier (then Waterloo Lutheran University). During his 30-year career, Fisher influenced thousands of students through his teaching, including his overseas travel seminars to the Middle East and Asia. He retired from Laurier in 1997.
Fisher is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joyce; his children Beth, Fran, Bob and Warren, and their spouses; and several grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St., S., Waterloo on Wednesday, Aug. 6 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A private interment will be held on Thursday, Aug. 7.
