Laurier to issue call for nominations for search committee and decanal review committees
Communications, Public Affairs & Marketing
Three Wilfrid Laurier University deans are currently serving terms which end on June 30, 2015: Michael Carroll, dean of the Faculty of Arts; Glen Carruthers, dean of the Faculty of Music; and Paul Jessop, dean of the Faculty of Science.
In accordance with university procedures and prior to the end of appointment terms, the university establishes search and review committees. Review committees are established to review the work of senior administrators and to make recommendations to Senate and the Board of Governors regarding their renewal. Search committees are established to conduct searches and to make recommendations to Senate and the Board of Governors.
Michael Carroll has elected not to seek a second term. Consequently, the university will strike a search committee for the dean of the Faculty of Arts. Carroll will continue to serve as dean during the search. The university will have an opportunity to recognize him for his accomplishments as the end of his term approaches.
Glen Carruthers and Paul Jessop have both indicated that they wish to be considered for a second term. As a result, the university will strike a review committee for the dean of the Faculty of Music and a review committee for the dean of the Faculty of Science.
Calls for nominations will be issued shortly for eligible positions on these search and review committees. The committees will begin meeting in September 2014. Written input is gathered as part of each search or review process. Calls for submissions will be posted in September.
