UPDATED: Fire in Wilfrid Laurier Universityís Expositor Place Residence, Brantford Campus
University provides temporary accommodation, and counselling to affected students

At shortly after 10 a.m. today, Friday, December 13, a fire alarm was activated in Expositor Place Residence on Laurierís Brantford Campus. The Fire Department and University Special Constables responded immediately. The building was evacuated and the fire was extinguished by the building sprinkler system.
A relatively small cooking fire was contained within a single apartmentís kitchen. One student was taken to hospital with second degree burns to his left hand. No other injuries have been reported.
Expositor Place Residence houses a maximum of 214 students in single rooms, however would not currently be at full capacity because of exam schedules. Accommodations have been secured for the six displaced students. Counselling Services are on scene and will be assisting students as needed.
Students are being advised to contact their parents as soon as possible. Updates will be provided on the University web site as they become available.
