Safety notice: Police issue alert about sexual assaults in Waterloo

WATERLOO — Waterloo Regional Police and the Laurier Special Constable Service are asking the public to exercise caution after two reports since Sept. 14 of sexual assault in neighbourhoods near Laurier’s Waterloo campus.
In the most recent incident, which occurred at about 8:15 p.m. Oct. 25, a male riding a bicycle approached a young woman from behind and assaulted her in Veterans' Green near Hazel Street and University Avenue West.
The male is described as possibly white, long light-coloured hair, thin build, wearing a dark hoody and dark pants. The male was last seen continuing through Veterans' Green toward the intersection at Hazel and University on his bicycle.

Laurier’s Special Constable Service encourages all members of the Laurier community to take precautions and use Laurier’s Foot Patrol service, which provides escorted walks and van-rides home by male-female teams, from 6:30 p.m. to 3 a.m. daily.
