Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Print | PDFFood, fun and creativity are the perfect ingredients for fundraising success at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Brantford campus.
The fifth annual SOUPer Lunch in support of Brant United Way has been the most successful soup lunch to date, raising $1,525. More than 60 employees and students participated in the Nov. 21 event, which has contributed more than $3,600 since 2014 to Laurier’s institutional United Way campaign.
“The opportunity to be creative, connect with colleagues, enjoy some delicious soup and support a great cause resonates with members of our community,” says Beth Sanders, events specialist at Laurier’s Brantford campus and United Way committee member.
Angela Jadric, academic program assistant for the Game Design and Development and Leadership programs, attended the soup fundraiser as a new university employee.
“It was great to see so many people at the lunch supporting Laurier’s United Way campaign,” says Jadric. “It’s important to be part of something bigger, and I’m proud to have had the opportunity to contribute as a Laurier employee.”
Veritas Café, Wilfrid Laurier University Students’ Union Catering, Sherwood Restaurant and Sobey’s donated soups, buns, crackers and beverages, while the Brantford Crock A Doodle studio offered their ready-to-paint clay bowls at a discounted price.
