Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Print | PDFTo the Wilfrid Laurier University Community,
As you know, last week saw our university community once again dealing with tensions around the issue of free expression on campus and being confronted with the complexities of applying these principles.
As the group tasked with developing an institutional statement on freedom of expression, we want the Laurier community to know that we are taking this role very seriously. We are actively listening to members of our community, consulting with experts, and having rigorous discussion and debate as we work to shape a statement on freedom of expression. We are also optimistic that this will help to effectively guide our commitment to its successful implementation.
In the coming weeks we will be sharing our draft statement with our students, alumni, faculty, staff and the broader community for feedback. We look forward to your responses, and encourage you to participate in this process as we work to develop a statement that we hope will serve as a touchstone for the university as we move forward.
Sincerely,
Task Force on Freedom of Expression
Wilfrid Laurier University
