Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Three Canadian companies in the Lazaridis Scale-Up Program have earned recognition in a prestigious ranking of fast-growing technology businesses.

The companies — StackAdapt, Unata and Vendasta — have been included on Deloitte’s 2017 North America Fast 500 list. StackAdapt and Unata are also included on Deloitte’s 2017 Technology Fast 50 list for Canada

The Technology Fast 50 program recognizes Canadian technology companies for their entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, rapid revenue growth, and world-class achievements. To be eligible, companies must be in business for four years or more, headquartered in Canada, and have 2016 revenues of at least $5 million. StackAdapt was ranked no. 6 and Unata no. 11.

Deloitte’s North America Fast 500 ranking includes technology companies from across Canada and the United States. StackAdapt was ranked no. 23, Unata no. 52 and Vendasta no. 349.

The Lazaridis Scale-Up Program identifies 10 of the most promising technology companies in Canada each year. Company founders take part in a dynamic year-long program facilitated by a diverse group of global business leaders. In addition to the intensive sessions held on a monthly basis in five Canadian and U.S. cities and wrapping up in Silicon Valley, the program gives key personnel in each company the opportunity to engage with personal mentors who are chosen specifically for each company’s particular industry and challenges.

The Lazaridis Scale-Up Program is operated by the Lazaridis Institute for the Management of Technology Enterprises, which has a national mandate to help the next generation of Canadian technology companies scale into global leaders. Created in 2015 with investments by technology entrepreneur Mike Lazaridis and the Ontario government, the Lazaridis Institute supports growth-oriented Canadian technology companies to scale and remain in Canada.

Based in Waterloo, the Lazaridis Institute was conceived and is managed by the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics at Laurier.
