Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

The Ontario government has issued guidelines and templates for a Request for Expressions of Interest (REOI) for the expansion of postsecondary education in Milton and Brampton.

“The REOI will help determine interest in developing new and innovative postsecondary sites to increase access to postsecondary education in the City of Brampton and the Town of Milton,” according to a letter memorandum from Sheldon Levy, deputy minister, Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development.

The REOI guidelines and templates, along with the deputy minister’s letter, can be found on the ministry’s website. Submissions are due March 6, 2017. After evaluating the REOI submissions, the ministry intends to invite select institutions to further develop their proposals through an Invitational Call for Proposals, which will be released in May 2017.

The university will review the specific requirements of the REOI process in context of our long-standing partnership with the town of Milton to establish a campus there to serve the western GTA. To ensure comprehensive institutional interests are supported the university will discuss the REOI with Senate at its meeting on Feb. 2 and with the Board of Governors at its meeting Feb. 8. These meetings are a continuation of the opportunities for our governing bodies and the wider Laurier community to discuss potential expansion in Milton.
