Brantford – Wilfrid Laurier University and the YMCA of Hamilton | Burlington | Brantford will host an official Grand Opening celebration of the new Laurier Brantford YMCA. This joint facility serves as both a community YMCA, and an athletics and recreation facility for Laurier’s Brantford campus. This important new community asset was made possible thanks to federal, provincial and municipal funding, and support from many donors.

Members of the media are invited to attend this celebration with Marco Mendicino, parliamentary secretary to the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, minister of infrastructure and communities; Will Bouma, MPP for Brantford-Brant; and Kevin Davis, mayor-elect of the City of Brantford, along with Deborah MacLatchy, president and vice-chancellor of Wilfrid Laurier University, and Jim Commerford, president and CEO of the YMCA of Hamilton | Burlington | Brantford. Additional elected officials taking part in the celebration include Phil McColeman, MP for Brant, Chief Ava Hill of the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory, and Chief Stacey LaForme of the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation.
