Waterloo – A number of communities across Canada are considering safe injection sites. Wilfrid Laurier University has a number of experts who could address the public health, social and political implications of these sites.

Maritt Kirst, assistant professor of community psychology, is an expert on mental health, addictions, and the effects of social context on substance use. She is available for comment on mental health, addictions and homelessness; trauma-informed practices and services for substance use and mental health problems; and public health policy on drugs. John Milloy, assistant professor of public ethics at Martin Luther University College and practitioner-in-residence at the Department of Political Science, is a former provincial MPP and Liberal cabinet minister who frequently comments on provincial politics.
