Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

As amended Dec. 21, 2017

Following the Dec. 18 statement on the independent fact-finder report noting “No formal complaint, nor informal concern relative to a Laurier policy, was registered about the screening of the video,” there have been accusations in the media that the professors lied about or fabricated concerns that led to the meeting with Lindsay Shepherd. The university would like to emphasize that this is not the case. While no complaint was filed by a student in the tutorial, a later discussion among students about the video was brought to the attention of a staff member, who then brought it forward as a concern to the two professors, which led to the meeting.

The president stated clearly that the meeting should not have happened, that there were numerous errors in judgment made in the handling of the meeting, and that these errors were compounded by the misapplication of existing university policies and procedures.
