WATERLOO – Valentine’s Day is celebrated annually on Feb. 14.

There are several Laurier experts available to comment on love, relationships and Valentine’s Day:

Feminism and Love

Margaret E. Toye, associate professor in Laurier’s Women and Gender Studies Program, is an expert on feminist theories of love. Toye is also a co-founder of Feminist Love Studies, an international organization that researches love from a feminist perspective and plays a crucial role in the formation of the scholarly field of Feminist Love Studies. Retail and Valentine’s Day

Chun (Martin) Qiu, assistant professor of Marketing at the Lazaridis School of Business & Economics, is an expert on retail. He is available to comment on retailing, shopping activities, online shopping, store promotions, etc. Contact information: cqiu@wlu.ca or 519-721-1676.

Biology of Attraction

Tristan Long, associate professor in Laurier’s Department of Biology, is an evolutionary geneticist and behavioural ecologist. Long’s research focuses on sexual selection – the differences in individual fitness resulting from non-random mating. His studies examine male-to-male competition for the opportunity to court/mate with females, why females don't always prefer the same males, and the costs and benefit that arise from selective/non-random/multiple mating.
