WATERLOO – Wilfrid Laurier University will hold its fall convocation in Waterloo Oct. 29 to 30, and the Brantford campus will host its first-ever fall ceremony Nov. 3.
As of Oct. 19, approximately 1,291 students had met all program requirements and qualified to graduate. Laurier expects to confer 372 graduate degrees, 913 undergraduate degrees and six diplomas.
Honorary degree recipients include acclaimed journalist Chantal Hébert and Canadian entrepreneur Peter Brown. At Laurier’s Brantford convocation, guest speaker and alumna Tanya Stephens (BA ’03), one of Laurier Brantford’s earliest graduates, will deliver special remarks.
Waterloo ceremonies will be held at Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex and the Brantford campus will host its inaugural fall convocation ceremony at the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts. Laurier will also celebrate the first graduating class of the Business Technology Management (BTM) program at the Brantford convocation ceremony.
Honorary degrees will be bestowed at the following ceremonies:
Laurier English and Film Studies Professor Eleanor Ty and Chemistry and Biochemistry instructor Parvina Shodieva will also be recognized on Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. with the 2015-16 University Research Professor award and the Teaching Assistant Award of Excellence in the undergraduate student category, respectively.
