Dr. P. M. Michele Daviau is Professor of Near Eastern Archaeology at Wilfrid laurier University and a member of the Graduate Faculty in the Department of Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations at the University of Toronto. Since 1996, Dr. Daviau has been the Director and Chief Archaeologist of the Wadi ath-Thamad project of excavation and survey in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Currently, she is engaged in publishing the final report volumes concerning Tall Jawa (Jordan), an Iron Age and early Islamic site excavated under her direction (1989-1995). Her latest research concerns sites in the Wadi ath-Thamad survey area that date to the Iron Age (Moabite culture) and the Roman period (Nabataean and Roman settlements and forts). Dr. Daviau has a special interest in religious iconography and in the tools of various crafts and industries.
