November 2009 will be the 100th anniversary of the birth of Woldemar Neufeld.
Woldemar Neufeld, a prolific and popular artist, spent 11 formative years as a youth and young adult in Waterloo, and is well known locally for his paintings of local scenes. He also produced watercolours, oils and block prints of scenes of Canada, and subsequently of the US.
Various events (including exhibitions) will celebrate the 100th anniversary of his birth, in 2009.
A new book, Woldemar Neufeld's Canada, will be published by Wilfrid Laurier Press to coincide with this anniversary, to complement previous books focusing on his work in Waterloo, and in New Milford CT.
We are currently conducting a national search for Neufeld paintings, for potential inclusion in the new book: if you own a Woldemar Neufeld painting or are aware of one, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any information. Wilfrid Laurier University holds the largest collection of his work, enabled in large part by a generous gift from his family.
