Office Location: Aboriginal Student House- Brantford
Academic BackgroundI am currently in my third year here at Wilfrid Laurier Brantford Campus. I am taking Honors Contemporary Studies with Early Childhood Development Option. I came to University right after graduating high school. My dream is to become a teacher and it has been my dream all my life. I am working towards that by taking this program and then after graduation, to attend teachers college.
BiographyI am Mohawk from the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, where I have lived all my life. I come from a big loving family that consists of 5 brothers and 2 sisters, one of which is my twin. I have always loved school and learning about my culture. That is one of the reasons why I chose to attend school here. The campus is small and is close to Six Nations where I also have family. Being at this campus has taught me a lot about my culture and about myself.
At the end of my first year is when I started to become more involved with the Aboriginal Student Association. In my second year is when I became the President of the Aboriginal Student Association (ASA). In my year of being President I got to know more students and people that I don't think I ever would have met. Being President took a lot of dedication and hard work- this is where I learned more about teamwork and more responsibility. In this role I have developed stills that I will use everyday.
Now I am the Campus Connections Coordinator. In my job I am the one to get in contact with other College and Universities. It is also my job to do some of the promotions around campus. Updating the events website and advertising upcoming events on the LBTV. I am also here to help out around the Aboriginal Student House when I can and am needed. I assist my coworkers with anything that they need help with. We are an amazing team this year!
