Welcome to History at Laurier Brantford!
Simply put, history is the study of the past – past events, people and ideas. The study of history promotes a deeper understanding of who we are and how we came to be, as history defines the individuals, communities and nations that comprise the diverse global society in which we live. The true purpose of studying history is to prepare students for life after graduation; teach them transferable skills that will help them obtain meaningful, rewarding careers; and instill in them a life-long love of learning. Through studying history, students learn how to evaluate and analyze the work of others, come to conclusions based on solid research methodologies, think critically and improve their oral and written communication.
Areas of study in our History program at Laurier Brantford include modern and contemporary Europe, Britain, Germany, Canada and international relations. We fully believe that more than ever, we need to be connected to the past to understand our present and future.
