Grant Packard joined the Marketing Area in July 2012 after completing his Ph.D. at the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business. He also holds an MBA from McGill University and a B.S. (cum laude) from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Grant has served as a lecturer at the University of Toronto, Rotman School of Management and the University of Colorado, Leeds School of Business.
Grantís research explores self-concepts (e.g. subjective knowledge), motivation (e.g. self-enhancement), language, social perception and interpersonal influence in social interactions among consumers and with firm agents. His research has been†published in the Journal of Consumer Research,†Journal of Consumer Psychology, Marketing Science, and the†International Journal of Research in Marketing†and†presented at conferences including those of the†Association for Consumer Research, Consumer Culture Theory, Marketing Science,†Society for Consumer Psychology, and the Society for Judgment and Decision Making.
Before entering academia, Grant was a marketing executive for Chapters/Indigo and Excite Canada. He began his marketing career at advertising agencies DMB&B New York and BBDO Toronto. His industry expertise lies in data-intensive strategies and channels (CRM, loyalty programs, online, research and analytics). In 2002, Grant was profiled as one of Canadaís top 30 marketers under the age of 30 by Marketing Magazine.
